If you are fortunate enough to live in Redington Beach or North Redington Beach you are living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Redington Beach is located on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. It has the gentle gulf lapping at its beautiful white sand beaches and the Intercoastal Waterway on the west side of the island.
Both towns were created in the 1940’s and originally were full of small waterfront homes and mom and pop hotels. Since then, these two cities have undergone profound changes. Both towns are only about 1 square mile in size and both have right around 1400 residents, but the small houses and mom and pop hotels have been replaced. Now, the average price of a home in this area is over $600,000.00 and the average price for a condominium averages $590,000.00.
If you live in either Redington or Redington Beach you have reached a certain level of financial success. You live in a beautiful home and have acquired significant assets during your marriage.
If you are now faced with the unfortunate possibility of a divorce, because you want one or your spouse does, its important for you to prepare properly. Your case may involve a high level of assets, or a business you own, it may include deferred compensation, stock options, retirement programs and other vest and non-vested financial benefits. Any of these types of assets requires careful planning and an attorney who understands complex financial matters.

Getting a Divorce in Redington Beach
Under Florida statute, married couples can have their marriage dissolved or obtain a divorce without assigning fault or blame to the other party. While fault need not be proven in order to apply for dissolution of marriage, the fault of one party may affect the award of alimony, distribution of marital assets and obligations, and judgment on child custody or parental responsibility.
There are two ways of dissolving a marriage in Florida — regular and simplified petitions for dissolution.
The regular method requires a petition to be accompanied with financial documents and a completed financial affidavit, which must be furnished to the other party. If there are children of the marriage, the petition party must also fill out a child support worksheet.
Parties who are able to enter into a written agreement on custody, shared time, property distribution, and other arrangements can obtain a court dissolution of marriage much faster than parties who are in conflict over many issues arising from the divorce.
A simplified divorce using prepared court forms may be less expensive and faster to obtain but it may not be for everyone. Several elements must be present for the court to proceed with the simplified procedure. A key disadvantage in using a simplified divorce is the inability to require the other party to provide a complete financial disclosure – which is possible under the regular procedure.
If you are contemplating a divorce and have children and substantial properties, your divorce attorney can provide important advice to secure your parental rights and protect your property interests.
